The season of Senior Boys' Soccer Team came to an abrupt end yesterday at Riverside High School. THe boys got off to a flying start where our first shot on goal by Omer Orak would give us a 1-0 lead. Riverside then pressed on up the field earning a penalty shot and resulting in us playing a man down for the remainder of the game. thay would score the PK and the game is now tied 1-1. Your Comets did not quit and earned a penalty shot of their own when Jake Merachli was taken down in the penalty area. Marvin Fouad would score giving us the lead once again. This brough an onslaught of pressure from Riverside. This pressure kep up unitl late in the second half when Riverside finally tied the game and sent it into overtime. There were to be two 10 minute overtime periods. With 5 minutes remaining in the second overtime Riverside would again find the net on a very tired group of Comets. Again, we did not quit. We pushed and almost got even when Eriq Jenkins would head the ball in the Riverside goal possibly making contact with their goalie. The ref would call a goal and linesman called a foul. The goal was called back. We gave up another goal in the dying seconds of the game when we had pushed up to score leaving us exposed at the back. Final score was 4-2 ending our playoff hopes. The boys on the field played their hearts out yesterday and we should all be proud to call them Comets. Great effort! Coach Facchineri is very proud. Also, coach would like to recognize some players who may not be returning next year. Congratulate the following boys when you see them: Bassam Yono, Rabeea Shaaia, Andres Murillo, Kim Ruot, Eriq Jenkins, Carlos Cuevas, Chris Mallen, Oneil Dankha and Anjel Alias.
