NOW Program-Aug 25th-28th 8:25-3:00 p.m.

Newcomer Orientation Week

The NOW program, funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, is held during the end of summer at Catholic Central High School to help newcomer teens transition to High School in Canada.

Our ELLs, with the guidance of peer leaders, teachers, and SWIS workers, get to know each other through scavenger hunts, field trips, ice-breakers, and dramatizations. This program offers our students the unique opportunity to make new friends, learn their way around the halls, and even practice opening their locks!

By the end of the NOW program, the students are comfortable, confident, and ready to embark on their journey to Catholic Central High School.

NOW Peer Leaders

Newcomer Orientation Week Prep

Every summer, our Settlement Workers in Schools, funded through Immigration and Citizenship
Canada, deliver a Newcomer Orientation Week programme at Catholic Central High School.

To facilitate this wonderful experience for our newcomers, CCH Peer Leaders are chosen via resume and interview.

Our Peer Leaders will undergo an extensive training session this summer and will be prepared to deliver what they have learned to the program participants during the NOW week:  August 25-28
