Fwd: Rookie Rumble

For all Grade 9's that are new to Catholic Central, this Wednesday will be our Rookie Rumble. This is a long tradtion at Catholic Central to welcome all new students.

This Wednesday, you will go to your 3rd period class, and your teacher will escort you to the gym to participate in games and activities for periods 3 and 4.

You are encouraged to wear something athletic as you will be involved in physical group and individual game. Please change in appropriate clothing during lunch. This is not a dress down for grade 9s. You can change before you go to your third period.

A member of student council will come around to your classes today and tomorrow to explain the day more.

Please read this on Sep 19

The School GSA would like to remind everyone at CCH about the importance of making everyone at the  school feel respected, loved, and cared for.  Inclusion is the strongest way to empower someone.  Say hello to someone you don't know today.  Smile while walking down the halls.  Stand up for those who are being wronged.  This is how we can all make CCH a better place to be.

For those who don't know - CCH formed a GSA group last year.  This group is called the Gay Straight Alliance.  This group is completely inclusive which means everyone is welcome in joining in an effort to keep CCH free from discrimination of any kind.

Do I need to identify as Gay in order to join this group?  No, absolutely not.  In fact those who don't identify as LGBTQ or Gay are referred to as Allies.  Allies are very important in this group, as they are members who are there to support the vulnerable members of our family.  They are the brave individuals who stand up for injustice.

If you believe that everyone has the right to self expression.  If you believe everyone deserves to be treated with respect and dignity.  If you believe that the best school environment is one which is free from bullying - then the GSA might be a good fit for you.

There will be a brief information meeting right at the beginning of lunch this Wednesday in the chapel for all who want to know more about the GSA at CCH.  Bring a friend, and find out what all the buzz is about. This will just be a sign up meeting, so you will not need to bring your lunch.  Come right after period 2. See you there.
